This Wednesday afternoon (1), Governor Tarcísio de Freitas met with the Consul General of China, Chen Peijie, to discuss future cooperation actions between the country and the State of São Paulo. In 2022, the trade flow between both reached US$ 29.1 billion, with the state occupying the lead in the Brazilian ranking of imports from China.

Agriculture, technology, energy and education were some of the areas highlighted by the governor during the meeting. He informed that soon there will be a mission from the State Government to visit BYD, the company responsible for manufacturing vehicles powered by clean and sustainable energy, with no pollutant emissions, which will serve line 17 of the São Paulo Metro (Gold line).

“The world is going through a moment of energy transition and cooperation with China also includes this theme. I see a great opportunity to learn and bring initiatives that will help transform the cities of São Paulo into smart cities”, declared the governor. Freitas and Peijie also discussed the possibility of projects in the area of ??public security, which may include cooperation for the transfer of know-how and exchange between police forces.

In the commercial field, International Business Secretary Lucas Ferraz presented the scope of the new secretariat, responsible for formulating public policies for facilitating and promoting trade, as well as initiatives for attracting investment, which, according to the Chinese consul, may bring even more companies to the State.

“Many Chinese companies are interested in entering the Brazilian market or expanding cooperation. The actions of the Secretariat for International Business will contribute to this,” said the consul.
