Governor João Doria announced on Monday (17), in Cajamar, a partnership with Mercado Livre that includes an investment of R $ 4 billion through the e-commerce platform in the state of São Paulo. This is the largest private contribution during the same year since the beginning of the current administration, with an estimated 5.000 new jobs by the end of 2021.

“This joint action with Mercado Livre is articulated, 360º, as we do here in the Government of SP. That is why Sebrae is our great partner in encouraging, training and monitoring entrepreneurship; Centro Paula Souza in training, through Etecs and Fatecs; the Empreenda Rápido, Minha Chance programs and Banco do Povo financing within the state’s economic development programs; and InvestSP, which is the facilitating agency. The entrepreneur speaks with a single source to make everything feasible, from environmental approval to financing, training program and qualification of manpower”, said Doria.

The agreement also provides for partnerships for training in qualification and entrepreneurship, offering courses in the areas of sales, logistics and technology. The company will also offer discounts to participants of Empreenda Rápido, a program of the State Economic Development Secretariat and Sebrae-SP.

Last year, Mercado Livre helped to formalize more than 66 thousand companies that started their sales on the platform. With the record investment of R $ 4 billion, the goal is to generate 5,000 direct jobs in logistics and technology in the regions of Osasco, Cajamar and Louveira – there will be 400 vacancies in IT, 4.100 in logistics and another 400 in different sectors of the company.

“We are excited about the advancement of our partners to help foster the economic development of the state of São Paulo, aware of the positive impact of this contribution for our entire operation in Brazil. After all, 85% of Mercado Livre sellers are located here in the country and it is also where we maintain a large part of our logistics centers, in addition to our headquarters in Osasco. This commitment goes beyond the financial contribution, because we are concerned with the development of the communities where we operate and we support entrepreneurship by investing in education and professionalization”, said Fernando Yunes, Senior Vice President and Leader of Mercado Livre in Brazil.

“This is the biggest announcement, made in this management, of investments by a company in one year. We are here together honoring the commitment to generate employment and income opportunities for the population, supporting our investors through a less bureaucratic model, but mainly supporting entrepreneurs and workers with professional qualification and microcredit, so that everyone can have access to jobs and income, because this is the best way to give dignity”, said the Secretary for Economic Development, Patricia Ellen.

Since September 2016, InvestSP has supported the company in projects in the state of São Paulo. “Mercado Livre is a leader in one of the fastest growing segments in recent decades. São Paulo will continue to serve as the main distribution hub for Mercado Livre, which will certainly reach new records in the coming years with the expansion we see now”, said Wilson Mello Neto, President of the state investment promotion agency.

Professional qualification

The partnership between the State Government and Mercado Livre will offer 100 thousand vacancies for the course “How to sell online?”, created by Mercado Livre in partnership with Centro Paula Souza and Sebrae-SP, through the Empreenda Rápido program. Registration should start in the second semester.

Students from Etecs and Fatecs from the regions of Cajamar, Louveira, Sorocaba and Osasco will be directed to the vacancies opened by the Minha Chance program. In addition, Mercado Livre will support the improvement of the logistics courses of the state vocational education.

Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurs who take courses in the state-owned Empreenda Rápido program will be entitled to benefits such as discounts on the purchase of Mercado Pago payment machines and a zero-month fee, in addition to free credit bonuses, free training and training from Mercado Ads to increase product visibility. The State will offer credit lines from Banco do Povo to 340 thousand entrepreneurs of Mercado Livre in all regions of São Paulo.

“This joint initiative brings a series of benefits, especially at this time when the economy is resuming. In addition to the opening of jobs, it will offer qualification for those who undertake to enter or improve their performance in e-commerce and still take advantage of the advantages offered by Mercado Livre”, says the Director-Superintendent of Sebrae-SP, Wilson Poit.
