Project developed with the support of Prodesp – a technology company of the Government of São Paulo, for the State Social Development Secretariat, was awarded at the Partner of the Year Award 2021, held by Microsoft. The innovative solution establishes the dispensation of payment for meals in Bom Prato restaurants, ensuring food security for the homeless population.
The recognition is the result of a partnership between the Company and Best Projects, in the idealization of a system that allowed the State to intelligently manage the distribution of the three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) in the 59 restaurants of the Bom Prato to the homeless population, duly registered by city halls throughout the state of São Paulo.
“It is with enthusiasm that we celebrate this important award for excellence in innovation and technology in a project with a great social impact. It is a milestone in the recognition of our Governor João Doria’s commitment and respect for the most fragile population, especially at times when the health crisis has posed great challenges”, highlights Célia Parnes, Secretary of State for Social Development.
The innovative solution, created through the Power App platform, allows the registration of people living on the streets and identification through a card with QR Code, that can be easily scanned by cell phone camera. Data verification is done in seconds, optimizing service.
“Our goal with this action is to allow the most vulnerable citizens to have guaranteed the right to receive at least three meals a day, easily, safely and avoiding crowding due to the pandemic. In addition to Prodesp, the work of Best Projects and the partnership with Microsoft were essential to make the project a reality”, says André Arruda, president of Prodesp.
The project won the Government category in the Global and Latam sphere out of more than 4,400 nominations collected from over 100 different countries around the world.
“Best was born from the dream of innovating to bring professionalism and a high level of management to the delivery of technology projects. This recognition from Microsoft comes to crown several successful projects and a spectacular year for us. In addition, it positions us as a reference in solutions at a global level, reaffirms our position as one of the largest Microsoft partners in the country and also reinforces our expertise in innovation and digital transformation”, adds Bruno Kamogawa, CEO of Best Projects.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, all Bom Prato units carried out several adaptations and expansions in the service within 24 hours, starting to offer breakfast, lunch and dinner in disposable packages and cutlery for collection, including on weekends and holidays. This 60% increase in the monthly quota of the popular network, already totals more than 44.2 million meals served, with more than 924 thousand offered free of charge.
“This award recognizes the Government of São Paulo’s commitment to keeping public services fully operational, providing technological solutions to meet those most in need, in an inclusive and sustainable manner”, concludes the Secretary of State for Social Development.
