Waterway

Hidrovia Tietê Paraná
Hidrovia Tietê-Paraná (Tietê-Paraná Waterway) is today an interesting leisure and tourism option in the state of São Paulo: 2,400 kilometers of navigable waters that reach 85 cities and extend from the capital up to the state's extreme western region. The activities offered to tourists are based on their integration with nature and on the historic attractions marked by the path explorers took towards discovering the state's countryside region. There are boats available to take tourists along the waterway, aquarium parks, dams, waterfalls, islands and bays, aside from bathhouses and vacation spas.
Rio Tietê (Tietê river) was the first "path" taken by explorers towards the countryside of São Paulo during the first 100 years of the colonization period, when adventurers left the plateau to search for gold and other precious stones and, later on, with monções (expeditions to the interior of the country).
Several navigation plans have been prepared lately, and now the Tietê river is entirely navigable, thanks to the floodgates built in stretches with obstacles.
