Mercado Municipal
Mercado Municipal (Municipal Market) opens to vendors at 2.30 a.m. and to the general public at 5.00 a.m., and closes at 16.00 p.m., from Mondays to Saturdays (closes on Sundays). It offers parking facilities.
Mercado Municipal (former Mercado Central), opened in 1933, is a 10-meter high building with columns, domes, and windows with agricultural themes imported from Germany. It is an important supply and leisure center that offers a great variety of products, from fruit, vegetables, and poultry to seasonings, some of which available only there. It is the only place in the city where it is possible to find all types of fruit, regardless the time of the year.
It is located at Rua Cantareira, 306, downtown, between Rua 25 de Março and Parque D. Pedro II.
