Parque Estadual da Cantareira
Next to Horto Florestal, Parque da Cantareira (Cantareira State Park) is one of the world's largest native tropical rainforest areas within a urban area. Its 19,521 acres are comprised of remaining parts of the Atlantic Forest (www.ambiente.sp.gov.br). Its springs are protected and the park is home to several endangered species such as howling monkeys, spotted cats, spotted leopard-cats, tinamous, Brazilian hawk jaguaçus and nighthawks. There, it is possible to find several types of plants, some of which endangered species, such as the imbuya phoebe, black cinnamon, and canela-sassafrás.
