Gastronomy

The city of São Paulo is home to thousands of restaurants where it is possible to taste typical dishes from all over the country, in addition to international food, meeting the expectations of people who like simpler food to those who have a more sophisticated taste. It is also possible to find aphrodisiac food.

There are Chinese, Vietnamese, Scandinavian, Japanese, Moroccan, Arabian, and Jewish restaurants, that is to say, visitors can find virtually all types of food anytime of the day and night. On the other hand, if the tourist wants to taste more exotic foods, visiting Mercado Municipal de São Paulo is a must.

"Mercadão", as it is widely known, is located in a building which is a good representation of the architecture from the coffee crop period. Opened in 1933, it was designed by F. Ranziini and E. Debenedetti, Italian architects from the Ramos de Azevedo office. Located in a 22,230 square meter area, it used to be São Paulo's most important market. It is worthwhile paying attention to the big windows that portrait the state's crops and cattle raising activities. Another interesting place where it is possible to find everything in terms of fruit and vegetables is Companhia de Entrepostos e Armazéns Gerais de São Paulo (CEAGESP) - the country's largest warehouse.

For those who do not want to cook, São Paulo offers thousands of options to satisfy all tastes.
