Sala São Paulo
Sala São Paulo is one of the most modern and well-equipped concert rooms in the world. It is the headquarters of Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo (Symphonic Orchestra of the State of São Paulo). For one and half year and with investments of R$ 44 million, Estação Júlio Prestes was entirely renovated and transformed into a cultural center. The project conceived by Mário Covas Government focused on Júlio Prestes' big room, and was opened on July 9, 1999. The room has state-of-the-art technical and acoustic standards. The great technological innovation is a mobile ceiling comprised of plates that can be brought down and up to adjust the sound quality according to the music that is being played. With a capacity for 1.484 people, the room also has 22 boxes.
